The courses run in line with school terms. They are usually run as one session per week and vary in duration from five to 14 weeks.
We are delighted to be able to offer these courses FREE, however registration is essential. You can register your interest here and we’ll add you to our waitlist for the next course. Just for Kids
The course is activity based and helps children explore issues such as strong feelings, building confidence and social skills through interaction, team building and fun. Groups are run by two trained, experienced facilitators.
Duration: 6 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Tamariki 7-10 years of age
Group size: up to 10 children
Emerge
This course is activity based and helps children develop social skills and confidence. They explore issues such as how to deal with bullying and anger in a fun, supportive environment. The course teaches strategies around building positive friendships and healthy living. Emerge is run by two trained facilitators.
Duration: 8 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Tamariki 10-12 years of age
Group size: up to 10 children
The Incredible Years®
The Incredible Years is a research-based programme that aims to increase children’s social competence at home, early childhood centres and school. The programme also helps to develop positive family relationships, provide parents with strategies and a support network for parents. There is no cost to attend.
What the course covers:

• Preventing & Handling misbehaviour
• Problem solving
• Communication
Programme Details:
• Day and night programmes offered twice a year (usually February and August)
• For mothers, fathers and caregivers only (sorry no children) – bring a support person if you wish.
• Duration: 14 weeks (breaks for school holidays)
• Frequency: 1 session per week, each session is 2.5 hours
• Who’s it for? Those caring for children between 3-8 years
• Group size: up to 14 parents with two facilitators
The Incredible Years Autism & Language Delay
The Incredible Years Autism programme is specifically designed for parents of children aged 2-5 on the autism spectrum or with language delay. Using group discussions, real-life situational videos and group problem-solving, the programme helps you build your parenting skills and confidence. It’s highly interactive and collaborative, and is driven by your child’s developmental abilities and goals. Over the course of 14 weekly sessions, you’ll learn to engage and play with your child in ways that support their language development and emotional self-regulation. You’ll also learn how to support your child’s social skills and empathy, and help them to form positive relationships. Find out more here.

Group size: up to 14 parents with two facilitators
Strengthening your Step Family
There’s a new dynamic in many families as divorce, separation, re-partnering, re-marrying, new babies, step siblings etc, creates a new-look family. Step parenting has it’s own set of challenges and this course will help you develop strategies for finding ways to cope with the challenges and share the joys of step families while developing your vision and family values.
Duration: 6 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Couples where the family includes step-children
Group size: up to 8 couples
Women’s Wellbeing
This offers women a safe environment to be involved with a group exploring ways to develop confidence within the themes of goal-setting, self esteem, assertiveness, personal boundaries, nutrition, women’s health and interview skills. Our trained, experienced facilitators have run this popular course for many years and women who attend have given great feedback about the benefits of learning strategies for self-care in the supportive environment of others who understand where you’re at.
Duration: 5 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Open to all women
Group size: up to 14 women
Positive Parenting
Parenting strategies for raising children in today’s world. Mums and Dads enjoy this course as they realise very quickly they are not alone in the issues they face. The course covers topics including child development, building self-esteem, communication, ways to increase positive behaviour and applying appropriate consequences. There is time for discussion and the sharing of concerns and successes.
Duration: 6 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Parents of children aged 0-10
Group size: up to 14 parents
Parenting Teenagers
Surviving the challenge and finding ways to improve communication and build on your relationship with your teen(s). Mothers and Fathers enjoy this group and the non judgmental environment allows fostering of ideas and strategies. Our trained and experienced facilitators cover the tricky subjects around teen parenting; safety, risk taking behaviours, how to develop a great relationship with your teenager and realistic expectations while your child goes through these momentous years.
Duration: 5 weeks
Frequency: 1 session per week
Who’s it for? Parents of children aged 11-17 (flexible)
